![]() This piece of software (ZipCloud) should be made more obvious to users and better information as to the fact it has nothing to do with DIVX, the SKIP button should be defaulted to SKIP, and the installer should be given the option to Cancel when the install is running (or an uninstaller should be provided) My only option was to bring up Force Quit Applications (CMD+ALT+ESC) and kill the installer. I installed it the first time I installed DIVX, I nearly did it again tonight on the new version, but after the installer was running for DIVX and I had inadvertently agreed to install ZipCloud, I couldn't cancel it! - There is no cancel button to abort, and the 'red' cancel dot does nothing. In some ways this is a cold 'free' sell/install of a product the user probably doesn't want. This means they will be accidentally unwittingly installing ZipCloud as part of the DIVX install, probably wont notice it until some sort of pop-up or notification appears, and they will then think it is spam ware or could be malicious. The problem with DIVX installer is most users will (like a PC user) click Continue/Next to get the application to install, putting the SKIP button as the left button of the two on that form will mean the INSTALL button is in the place most users would expect to see NEXT or CONTINUE. They own up to it but it's still a little sneaky. The problem is that their "opt in" is apparently not very obvious or people wouldn't accidentally opt in. We are planning on offering a paid Ad-free version of our DivX Software in a future version which will eliminate the offers and Ads in the DivX Software. We want to continue to offer our users a great experience with our free DivX Software and we appreciate your feedback. I have attached a few screenshots of the optional offers in the Mac Installer process. If you accept the offer it will be installed on your system and if you skip it the optional offer will not be installed. These offers are always optional and you have the ability to decline/skip the offers during the installation process (Please read carefully before clicking next). These offers help keep our software free for our users and hopefully brings to attention some useful apps that our users may like. We are sorry if you are dissatisfied with the DivX Software, with our most recent software release (10.3.1) we updated our Mac installer system to now include third party app offers during our install process. If you have used Time Machine and have a relatively recent backup of your drive, this might be your answer but, if I were you, I would first do some searching for the particular update that was applied to your machine to see if it can be removed rather than going heavy handed with a disk image restore.FYI, I wrote Divx and received this reply. Time Machine looks like it's more of a drive backup utility rather than the restore point functionality that Microsoft offers in Window and I use something similar to what Apple offers called Acronis True Image and it can be handy at times. How to roll back a software update? - MacRumors Forums How do I roll back my macbookpro after I made some "stupid" changes - Apple Support Communities ![]() So I wondered if Apple offers the same sort of functionality they sort of do - it's called "Time Machine" - and is used to restore a previously backed up disk image. I don't know much of anything about Macs, but Windows has restore points that you can go back to for just these types of situations - the OS is restored to a previous state rather than starting from scratch or restoring an entire disk image.
